Elana Siegel, Colorguard Coordinator
Elana is excited to continue her journey as the Color Guard Director with Vanden High School and Golden West Middle School. Elana has performed at the highest levels of the color guard activity, winning two World Championship silver medals with the Santa Clara Vanguard Winter Guard ('14 and '16). She marched for four years with Colts Drum and Bugle Corps (2009 - 2012). Elana teaches, choreographs, and designs for a number of high school and independent groups around the country and world. She serves as the lead technician for the world class Colts Drum and Bugle Corps and has choreographed for the open class Colt Cadets corps. In 2015, Elana created two winter guards in Panevezys, Lithuania, marking the first ever color guards in the former Soviet Republics. She also serves as the Color Guard Caption Head for Drum Corps Europe finalists Mosson Secutores Drum Corps (Italy). Elana is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Go Badgers!
Redmond Fernando, Percussion Coordinator
Redmond is proud to continue his role as the percussion coordinator for the Vanden High School Music Program. Redmond has performed for Fairfield High School and has been an avid instructor throughout Fairfield. In his six years of teaching, he has brought along excellent instruction in the field of music, but also to further student’s lives and personal life choices. Currently, Red is furthering his education at Dominican University in San Rafael, where he studies nursing. His long-term goal is to complete his degree and become an RN. Redmond is excited to continue working with a positive staff and an ambitious bunch of students!
Ismael Hernandez, Bass Instructor
Ismael Hernandez is the current Bass Ensemble Technician for Vanden High School, dedicated to providing an exceptional education both on and off the field. Ismael has marched in the independent group "eNVision" where he held the position of Bass Drum Captain. Currently, Ismael dedicates his time to his studies in Chemical Engineering as well as being a Program Coordinator for his position as an Instructional Assistant for adults with developmental disabilities in Napa. For leisure, Ismael enjoys delving in to his creative side with writing, both literature and music. It has been a great pleasure, and an even greater honor, to serve his community and give back to music education which he so greatly benefited from in his adolescence.
Ross Ackerman, Front Ensemble Instructor
Ross is currently a double major in Music Education and Music Performance in the area of Percussion at Sacramento State. He studies with Dr. Daniel Kennedy. He has been teaching for six years and loves being able to take what he learns in his studies and apply it to teaching kids! During the summer of 2014, Ross performed with the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps. As an educator, Ross has worked with several organizations including Elk Grove High School. Ross graduated from Fairfield High School where he performed with a number of ensembles, including their winter drumline.
Zuleyma Hernandez, Snare Instructor
Zulyema Hernandez began marching percussion at Fairfield High School in Fairfield, CA. The program was highly competitive and remained undefeated throughout multiple seasons. Zuleyma continued marching at Sacramento State Independent Percussion Ensemble. She started teaching in 2006 at Sullivan Middle School and eventually became caption head at Rodriguez High School in Fairfield, CA, leading them to an NCBA Championship. Her teaching career continued at John Swett High School in Crockett, CA and Franklin High School in Sacramento, CA. Zuleyma is excited to be in her third year teaching at Vanden High School. Zuleyma likes the Giants, the Patriots, and traveling.
Joe Lynch, Cymbal Instructor
Joe Lynch is the cymbal technician for winter season and a visual marching technician during the fall season. During the summer of 2015, Joe performed with the Blue Devils B Drum and Bugle Corps as a member of the baritone section. Joe is currently studying computer science at the University of California, Davis.
Gabriel Perez, Colorguard Instructor
Gabriel Perez started his color guard career at Rodriguez High School in Fairfield, CA. After graduating as captain of the guard, Gabe marched with the 2015 Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps, winning a gold medal with the team at Drum Corps International World Championships. He will be continuing his time with the Blue Devils for the summer of 2017. Gabe currently marches with world championship silver medalist In Motion Performance Ensemble out of Fairfield, CA.

Alyssa Paluck, Office Assistant
Alyssa Paluck graduated from Vanden High School in 2014. While she attended Vanden she was involved in the music program, participating in Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Percussion Line, and the Choir Club. Alyssa is currently studying Civil Engineering at the University of California, Davis.
